Al Hamra · Ras Al Khaimah The part of Ras Al Khaimah people settle into.

I show families, first-time buyers and owners around Al Hamra every week. Here is what living here is like: the school, the marina, the drive, and what homes cost right now.

Al Hamra in short

Al Hamra is a freehold waterfront community on the coast south of Ras Al Khaimah city, built around an 18-hole golf course, a marina and a beach. People choose it to live in year round: it has a primary school, a mall with a supermarket and a clinic, and townhouses, villas and apartments in one gated village.

Al Hamra Real Estate started building here in 2003, so trees have had time to grow and neighbors know each other. It feels lived in, not newly launched.

Alana's view

A morning in Al Hamra

When people ask me where to settle in Ras Al Khaimah, I take them to Al Hamra at seven in the morning.

The sprinklers are still running on the fairway, golfers are teeing off before the heat, and the first cars head out on the school run. By eight the marina is quiet again, and someone is always paddling across the lagoon.

What I like most is that daily life sits inside the village. The supermarket, the pharmacy and a clinic are in Al Hamra Mall. The primary school is a short drive or a bike ride from most townhouses. You can do a whole Saturday without getting on the highway.

In the evening I'd walk you along the marina boardwalk, then a few minutes up the road to Jazirat Al Hamra, the old pearling village, which tells you a lot about where this coast comes from.

Questions people ask me

Before you message me

The questions I hear most from buyers, tenants and owners. If yours isn't here, ask me directly.

Ask me on WhatsApp
  1. Is Al Hamra a good place to live with children?

Yes, for many families it is the easiest choice in Ras Al Khaimah. RAK Academy Al Hamra, a British curriculum primary school, sits on the edge of the village, there are nurseries nearby, and the supermarket and a clinic are in Al Hamra Mall. For secondary school, pupils move to RAK Academy Khuzam in the city.

  2. How much does an apartment cost in Al Hamra?

A one bedroom apartment in Al Hamra Village averaged about AED 817,000 and a two bedroom about AED 1.3 million in Bayut's 2025 market report. Studios start at around AED 420,000. Yearly rent averaged about AED 51,000 for a one bedroom and AED 72,000 for a two bedroom.

  3. Can foreigners buy property in Al Hamra?

Yes. Al Hamra is a freehold area, so foreign nationals can buy and own a home outright, whether or not they live in the UAE. I take you through each step with the developer and the land department before you commit.

  4. How far is Al Hamra from Dubai?

Dubai airport (DXB) is about an hour by car from Al Hamra, longer at rush hour. Ras Al Khaimah airport is about 25 to 30 minutes away, and the city centre about 20 minutes.

  5. Is there a supermarket and a doctor in Al Hamra?

Yes. Al Hamra Mall has a Spinneys supermarket, a pharmacy and RAK Medical Center Al Hamra, which covers general practice, children, dental care and lab tests. For hospital care, RAK Hospital and Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital are in the city.

  6. Does a home in Al Hamra qualify for a UAE Golden Visa?

A property worth at least AED 2 million can qualify its owner for the UAE's 10 year Golden Visa, and several properties can be combined to reach that value. In Al Hamra that usually means a villa, a larger townhouse or a big apartment. The immigration authorities make the final decision, so I point you to them for the application.

  7. How does getting a mortgage work for a home in Al Hamra?

You get a pre-approval from a UAE bank, make your offer, and the bank values the home before it gives final approval. I started out in banking in Dubai, so I walk you through each step; the bank sets the rate and decides on the loan.
