Compare · Ras Al Khaimah Al Hamra, Al Marjan Island or Mina Al Arab?

All three are freehold, on the water and about ten minutes apart. They feel very different to live in. Here they are side by side, with the parts other agents tend to skip.

The short answer

Choose Al Hamra if you want to settle, with a school, a supermarket and a golf course inside a finished village. Choose Al Marjan Island if you want the sea on every side, a weekend home or a holiday rental. Choose Mina Al Arab if you want calm water, mangroves and room to breathe, and can live with some building work nearby.

How I help people choose

I never start with the property. I start with how you want your week to look.

Many people who message me have already picked a community from photos. Seeing all three in person often changes the answer: the school run, the walk to the beach or the building site next door looks different from the street.

So I take you to all three in one morning if you like. Al Hamra first, then Mina Al Arab ten minutes away, then over the causeway to Al Marjan Island. By lunch you know which one feels like yours.

The questions I hear most from buyers, tenants and owners. If yours isn't here, ask me directly.

Ask me on WhatsApp
  1. Which is better, Al Hamra or Al Marjan Island?

Neither is better; they suit different lives. Al Hamra is a finished village with a primary school, a supermarket, a golf course and a marina, so it suits people who live here full time. Al Marjan Island has the sea on every side and resort hotels, so it suits weekend homes and holiday rentals, with more building work around it until about 2028.

  2. Which community in Ras Al Khaimah is best for families?

Al Hamra is the easiest for most families, because the primary school, the supermarket and a clinic are in or next to the village. Mina Al Arab suits families who want more nature and quiet and are happy to drive about ten minutes for school and shopping. Al Marjan Island has no school on the island.

  3. Where should I buy a holiday home in Ras Al Khaimah?

Al Marjan Island draws the most holiday guests, with resort hotels and Wynn Al Marjan Island opening in September 2027. Be realistic about the numbers: apartment rents on the island fell about 9% in the year to August 2026, and bookings are seasonal, busiest from October to December. You need a holiday home permit from RAKTDA in all three communities.

  4. Which is the most affordable: Al Hamra, Al Marjan Island or Mina Al Arab?

Al Hamra is usually the most affordable of the three, with a one bedroom apartment averaging about AED 817,000 in 2025. Mina Al Arab sits in between, and Al Marjan Island has the highest price per square foot in Ras Al Khaimah, about AED 2,600 in September 2026.

  5. Which community has the least construction?

Al Hamra has the least building work, because most of the village is finished. Al Marjan Island and the new islands of Mina Al Arab, Hayat Island and Raha Island, will see construction for several years. The older parts of Mina Al Arab, such as The Lagoons and Flamingo Villas, are finished and settled.

  6. Can foreigners buy in all three communities?

Yes. Al Hamra, Al Marjan Island and Mina Al Arab are all freehold areas, so foreign nationals can buy and own a home outright, whether or not they live in the UAE. A home worth at least AED 2 million can also qualify its owner for the UAE's 10 year Golden Visa.
